I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your confidential letter No. 13 of the 7th instant conveying to me the decision of His Excellency the Governor in Council with reference to the investigation into the charges preferred against me.

In reply I much regret that I have not succeeded in exculpating myself to the satisfaction of His Excellency the Governor in Council.

In accordance with your instructions I therefore now tender you my resignation from the Public Service of this Colony.

With regard to the decision to allow me a reduced pension, I have the honour to request that in consideration of my long service the Government will be graciously pleased to recommend me for the full pension.
